MY LITTLE CHAMP!    Being the sister of a Two-time Dirt Karting Champion is not something too many people can brag about.   But I can!

I remember it like it was yesterday...
My little "girlie girl" of a sister,  crying as she went around the track in Red Bluff, California during her first hot lap session.   I remember thinking to myself that her race career was over before it had even started.    I remember her pulling off the track, tears in her eyes and me running over to see what was wrong.   She was telling my Mom that she was scared and I heard my Mom telling her to get back out there, that she could do it.  She made her way back on to the track, continued crying and began picking up speed, slowly.  That day was just the beginning of what was to come!   Week after week she started getting faster and faster.   Finally, she replaced those tears with smiles and I knew she had been bitten by the same "racing bug" as me!   Knowing that both of us have such a competitive streak, I remember thinking,  "This could be bad for those boys on the track!"

A memory I will never forget OR live down...
Together with my Mom and Dad,  me and Kellcy traveled to Chico, California one weekend to run at their indoor track.   At this track,  they did not have a Beginner Box Division, so Kellcy had to race in the same division as me.   As my luck would have it, she ended up in the same heat race as me and when the checkered flag came out, she was ahead of me by a kart length.  I will never forget that race or how hard I was driving to catch her and she has never let me live that down!

From that day forward...
Since then she has yet to lift her foot from the pedal.  The feeling I get when she gets on the track, when I hear them announce her name and remind the crowd that she is the "points leader", makes my stomach turn and my face smile.    I know how I feel when the green flag flies and to watch her put the pedal to the metal,  tear-up the track and race her race, makes my adrenaline rush.   During every qualifying session and race, I want her to win it all.   When I watch the other kids drive it too far in and get her side ways, I'm always on my feet, cheering her on and pushing my foot through the grandstands.

So proud...
During both the points chases in Beginner Box and Box Stock, I couldn't have felt more proud of what my little sister was accomplishing.   She never gave up,  even on the nights when she easily could've.   I've watched her many times and knew that even though she hadn't said it,  her mind was set and she was going to win the points chase.    I can't wait to see what she does in the 250cc division and wouldn't be surprised at all to be watching her chase another Championship.   I feel blessed to have her as my sister, lucky to have such a connection through racing and so glad she is a part of our "racing" family.
